Things to Do on a Budget in Monmouth & Ocean Counties this April 2018

Spring has sprung! Time to enjoy the fresh flowers, warm weather, and great outdoor activities this April. Check out all of the fun events we have listed below – that you and your family and friends can enjoy this month. We also hope you have a Happy Easter and Passover!

April 1: Asbury Park Easter Pageant Parade at 1pm Paramount Theater (Ocean Ave. on the Boardwalk). This is a free event, and there will be trophies, prizes and gift certificates for best dressed men, women, boys, girls, families, and unusual bonnets. April 7: Opening Day Celebration at Allaire Village from 11am to 4pm. Allaire Village (Wall) is celebrating 60 years! With winter behind and signs of spring, the village comes to life to kickoff the 2018 season. Over 12 unique craft guilds will be demonstrating their 19th century crafts. Guided tours of the historic village will be available, and a special history and science scavenger hunt for children and adults. There will be music, hands-on activities, and interactive programs to experience life in this early 19th century industrial village. There will also be a special food and baking program at the Allaire Bakery, with specialty cookies and baked goods and a photo exhibition in the Enameling Building. April 8: Teddy Bear Tea at Navesink Country Club (Middletown) from 2-4pm.  Children 3-8 years old are cordially invited to enjoy an afternoon with a furry friend for: Polite conversation, lesson on manners, teddy bear parade, gourmet treats & music entertainment featuring “The Little Rockers.” Get more information here, or call 732-224-1993.

April 14 & 15: Kites at the Pier Festival (Long Branch) from 9am to 4pm. The event will feature kite flyers from all areas of the eastern seaboard flying their most incredible creations!  Kites of all shapes and sizes – from inflatable flying creatures to traditional kites, will be flying high over the beach between Avenue and McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch. April 21: Spring Craft Show at Fort Monmouth Recreation Center (Tinton Falls) from 9am to 1pm. Support over 40+ homegrown artists and artisans. Shop for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, communions, weddings or for yourself. Craft Show admission and parking are free. International Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival at Six Flags (Jackson) from noon to 7pm. Attend the 5th annual food truck festival full of delicious treats from all over the world, plus beer! Guests can enjoy a variety of cuisines ranging from barbeque and tacos to hibachi and sliders, plus sweets including gourmet waffles and cupcakes. More than 15 trucks will be available. April 22: Red Bank International Beer, Wine, and Food Festival from noon to 7pm. A family-friendly outdoor celebration of International food, live music, wine, beer & more! White Street Parking Lot in Downtown Red Bank. Visit http://www.redbank.org/ or call 732-842-4244.

April 27-29: Pier Village Spring Sidewalk Sale (Long Branch). Don’t miss participating stores rolling out their racks for early season savings! Click here or call 732-923-0100.

April 28: Baconfest at Laurita Winery (New Egypt) from 11am to 9pm. BACON, BACON and more BACON – a bacon lover’s dream! There will be food trucks, family activities and vendors. Cost  is $8 per person/ those under 21 FREE. Discounted tickets online at www.lauritawinery.com or call 609-758-8000.
