Things to Do in Monmouth & Ocean Counties on a Budget this October 2012

All of October: Visit” target=”_blank”>The Field of Terror (East Windsor), New Jersey’s Largest Haunted Attraction Farm. They own over 120 acres of preserved farmland where they host their annual Haunted Hayride, Field of Terror Corn Maze, and 2 walk-through attractions.

Sleepy Hollow” href=”” target=”_blank”>The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? At 7:30pm in Historic Allaire Village (Wall), experience an interactive adaptation of the classic ghost story; advance tickets recommended.

Saturday, October 6th: Come out to the” target=”_blank”>Fall Harvest Festival & Craft Show (Ocean Grove). Bring your family and friends to visit over 100 craft tables, variety of food booths, live music and sidewalk sales. An additional bonus is the free admission – don’t miss out!

Monday, October 8th – Tuesday, October 9th: Enjoy everything Fall has to offer at Von Thun Farm’s Fall Festival (Monmouth Junction). Just some of the attractions available are pick your own pumpkins and apples, hayrides, corn & straw mazes, farm animals, activities for kids, food, live music and so much more!

Friday, October 12th: Celebrate Oktoberfest at the Historic Allen House (Shrewsbury). Immerse yourself in the German culture and pretend to go abroad and try German beer tasting (21 years or older), tavern fare, raffles, music and much more! For tickets and information, call 732-462-1466.

Saturday, October 13th: Come out to the 18th Annual Pine Barrens Jamboree (Waretown)! Come enjoy local Pine Barrens musicians perform country/bluegrass music, cultural & historical demonstrations and lectures, traditional crafts and crafters, nature and history programs, canoe around the lake, fun activities for kids, non-profit organizations, food and more. Rain or Shine with free parking, admission and shuttle!

Enjoy the fall festivities in historic Allentown! Walk around and experience products from crafters and artists, food booths, children’s games and activities, petting zoo, live music, antique car show, lakeside tea social, and Civil War Encampment and Demonstrations. For More Info call 609-208-2992. Thursday, October 25th – Saturday, October 27th: Experience pirates and sea captains long lost at sea while strolling the boardwalk for a night of screams at the 10th Annual Haunted Seaport and Harvest Festival (Tuckerton Seaport). Visit Haunted Tucker’s Island Lighthouse, hayrides, phragmites maze, food, refreshments, entertainment and a non-scary pumpkin patch for the little ones. Fun for the whole family! General Admission applies and only $2 hayrides!

Wednesday, October 31st: Bring the kids to the 75th Annual Halloween Parade (Toms River) sponsored by the Toms River Fire Company #1! The parade begins promptly at 7pm and all participants are required to register the day before or the day of parade and arrive no later than 6pm on parade day. Don’t miss out on this Ocean County Halloween tradition even if you just want to come and watch!
